The Return of the Leopard campaign will wrap up on June 5 in Moscow during Game 2 of the CSKA – Khimki playoff finals. The campaign has been a joint project between the VTB United League and Far Eastern Leopards charity, seeking to bring attention to the plight of rare animal populations.
During the game on Friday, players will wear special T-shirts featuring the Return of the Leopard campaign during warmups and fans will have opportunities to win prizes from the VTB United League and Far Eastern Leopards. The league's new mascot, Leopard 29, will be the featured guest. He doesn't have an official name yet, though he received his number from his real-life twin in the wild, LEO29M, a leopard living in the Land of the Leopards wildlife park.
VTB United League fans are currently voting on a new name for the league mascot and his twin in the wild. Use the #LEO29 hashtag to suggest your own name or vote for a name that has already been suggested.
The name will be revealed on Friday, June 5, during halftime of Game 2 between CSKA and Khimki.
But that's not all! The league mascot will take part in an ecological family holiday at Moscow's Sokolniki Park on June 6, as part of the All-Russian Ecological Children's Festival Eco-Childhood. There will be a basketball court at the event, where everyone will have a chance to test their basketball skills and receives prizes from the VTB United League and Far Eastern Leopards. In addition to the league's new mascot, VTB United League deputy general director and former women's basketball star Ilona Korstin will hold a basketball master class beginning at 2:00 PM.
Come join us at Sokolniki Park on Friday! Don't miss the Return of the Leopard!
